When it comes to mascaras, believe me when I say I have tried them all. From clumpy to stringy, from crappy mascara wands, to interestingly shaped mascara wands, these four mascaras have earned their spots in my makeup drawer.
From left to right: L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara, Josie Maran Black Argan Oil mascara, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Let’s start with my favorite drugstore mascara ever: L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Macara
For only about $6, this mascara will surely change your life. The color is pitch black, the wand is the perfect size, and the bristles are the perfect length for adding product to your lashes. Flakes? You won’t remember what those are with this mascara. I’ve been using it for almost six years now, and sometimes I wonder why I even bother trying other mascaras…
My favorite high end mascara has got to be the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Before I continue, the wand of this mascara is too big for my liking, but the formula, aaahhhhhh IT’S SO GOOD. Two coats of this mascara always leave people asking me if I have falsies on. Even one coat will shock your lashes into existence, so brace yourselves!
The Runner Up for high end mascara is my Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara.
This mascara is what happens when Too Faced Better Than Sex and L’Oreal Voluminous mascara have a love child. The wand of this mascara is smaller than the Too Faced mascara, and the pigment is blacker than night, just like the L’Oreal mascara. The only reason it is the runner up is that I feel like I have to do 2.5 coats to get to the level of fullness that the Too Faced mascara would have gotten me in 2 coats.
My first favorite high end mascara is my Josie Maran Black Argan Oil Mascara
The print of the mascara tube alone was enough to make me repurchase two more tubes! I love this mascara because the wand is the perfect size and the pigment is very black. Like the other mascaras I mentioned, this one also does not leave your lashes hard or crispy.
Mascara tip: If your mascara is getting a bit dry, add two drops of contact lens solution into the tube, mix it, and voila! You have a creamy formula once again.
